Dreaming of swapping Cebu’s pristine beaches for the vibrant, bustling streets of Vietnam? Your next getaway just got a whole lot easier. Vietjet has officially announced a brand-new direct flight connecting the tropical paradise of Cebu with Ho Chi Minh City, opening up exciting new travel possibilities between the Philippines and Vietnam.
Set to take off on December 11, 2026, the new route will operate five round-trip flights a week. This exciting addition doesn’t just connect two amazing cities. It effectively doubles Vietjet’s total flight capacity between the two countries, giving travelers more flexibility and better options for their itineraries.
From Island Hopping to City Tripping
Ho Chi Minh City, affectionately known as Saigon, is a thrilling metropolis where rich history meets modern energy, famous for its street food, historic landmarks, and bustling markets. From here, travelers can easily catch onward connections to explore the rest of Vietnam or jet off to international hotspots across China, Japan, South Korea, India, and even as far as Europe.
On the other side, Cebu remains the ultimate Philippine gateway. Whether you’re a local returning home or an international tourist using it as a base camp, Cebu offers seamless access to the breathtaking Visayas region, including world-famous island getaways like Bohol and Siargao.
Riding the Wave of Wanderlust
The route announcement, celebrated during the Vietnam–Philippines Business Forum on June 1 alongside the state visit of Vietnam’s President To Lam, perfectly captures the surging travel appetite between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. To support this booming interest, both nations recently signed a Tourism Cooperation Program for 2026 to 2029, promising even smoother travel experiences and enhanced air connectivity.
Filipinos and Vietnamese are already traveling back and forth in record numbers. In just the first four months of 2026, Vietnam welcomed a massive 236,000 Filipino visitors, a huge 73.4% jump from the previous year. This surge pushed the Philippines into Vietnam’s top ten international source markets for the very first time. Meanwhile, Vietnamese tourist arrivals to the Philippines grew by an impressive 35.3%, proving that the desire for cross-border exploration is only getting stronger.
A Homegrown Touch for Your Journey
This new route is a natural follow-up to the highly successful Manila–HCMC flights launched in late 2025. The airline also proudly employs a team of over 100 Filipino professionals, including pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and managers, ensuring that the service feels like home from the moment you step on board.
Since expanding its network in 2019, Vietjet has been the bridge connecting Manila, Davao, and Cebu to Hanoi, HCMC, and Da Nang, helping to fuel tourism and cultural exchange between two of Asia’s most dynamic destinations.
