SSS Launches Solar Loan Program, Deploys Mobile Services

The Social Security System (SSS) has unveiled a groundbreaking Energy Sustainability Loan program that will allow qualified members to finance residential solar panel installations, marking the agency’s newest initiative to help Filipinos cope with rising electricity costs.

Announced on May 21, 2026, the program targets at least 100,000 homes by 2028 and offers loan repayment terms up to seven years. This comes as the social security agency continues its nationwide mobile service deployment to bring services closer to workers and pensioners.

Nationwide Mobile Services Now Underway
The SSS Palengke Caravan began on May 25, 2026, deploying its e-Wheels mobile units to public markets and barangays across the country. The weeklong initiative aims to reduce travel time, queues, and transaction difficulties for workers, pensioners, and beneficiaries who typically struggle to access SSS branches.

“This is about meeting members where they are,” said an SSS representative. The mobile services follow the agency’s commitment to address the influx of members and claimants at its branches.

Financial Relief Measures Being Considered
In response to rising energy costs and inflationary pressures affecting Filipino households, SSS is actively studying two major relief measures:

  • Loan moratorium for members facing financial hardship
  • Condonation of contribution penalties for employers

The agency has not yet announced final decisions on these proposals, but confirmed they remain under active consideration.

Despite economic challenges, SSS reported robust financial results in 2025, posting ₱142.97 billion in net income and surpassing ₱1 trillion in reserve funds for the first time in its history. This financial strength positions the agency to expand its programs and support services to millions of Filipino workers.

What Members Need to Know
Qualified members can expect to apply for the Energy Sustainability Loan through regular SSS channels once the program officially rolls out. The agency will provide detailed eligibility requirements and application procedures in the coming weeks.

For those needing immediate assistance with SSS services, the Palengke Caravan mobile units are currently visiting public markets and barangays. Members can check the official SSS website for the complete schedule of mobile service deployments in their area.
