Mega Sardines Celebrates National Sardines Month in Danao, Uplifting a City Rebuilding from Disaster

Mega Sardines, through its nationwide Mega Malasakit Mission, concluded the National Sardines Month celebration at the Danao Civic Center, choosing the city as the final stop in recognition of its resilience following recent calamities, including an earthquake and flooding caused by the typhoon.

The event paid tribute to the hardworking Filipino fishermen whose daily efforts sustain one of the country’s most trusted staples. Families, local leaders, and residents joined in activities that celebrated not only sardines in Filipino culture but also the strength of communities rebuilding after calamity.

Following earlier celebrations in Malabon and Bulacan, Danao was chosen as the culminating venue for this year’s campaign. The city’s strong ties to fishing and coastal life, coupled with its recent challenges from natural disasters, made it a symbolic site to highlight the values of malasakit, bayanihan, and resilience.

In partnership with the Danao Local Government Unit (LGU), the celebration featured meaningful activities designed to uplift spirits and strengthen bonds. These included a Community Cooking Demo that showcased nutritious recipes using Mega products, Fun Games that spread joy and togetherness among families, Gift-Giving that shared blessings with the Ka-Mega community, and a festive Community Salu-Salo where everyone came together to celebrate unity through good food and fellowship.

Through this event, Mega Prime Foods reaffirmed its mission of delivering accessible, nutritious, and affordable food to Filipino families. More importantly, the company emphasized its commitment to supporting fishermen and communities, especially those affected by calamities.
